About Department 

Data science has witnessed rapid expansion and is projected to sustain its upward trajectory in the job market. According to US News and World Report 2022, Data Scientist is ranked among the top technology jobs. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Data Science) was established in 2022 with an aim to prepare Generation Z professionals for a career in Data Science.

The department has an intake of 60 for the UG program.

As an autonomous institution, the department has flexibility in designing the curriculum. The curriculum is a blend of core computer science fundamental courses with specialization in data science. Students will gain expertise in machine learning, statistical knowledge, mathematical reasoning, data visualization skills and optimization principles to appropriately formulate and analyse data. AI tools and technologies to build and evaluate data intensive systems are taught to the students through experiential learning. The department’s primary focus is to foster holistic development of students to make them exceptional engineers with societal awareness and social responsibility.
